Rostock Gedser Ferry Check-in

By car, motorhome or motorbike

Travellers with a vehicle can check in directly from the car. Follow the signs at the Rostock ferry port:

• Check-in time: Arrive with your vehicle at least 15 minutes before departure (a little earlier is better).
• Check-in lanes: There are two lanes at the terminal. Blue lane – automated self-service for vehicles with a registered number plate. Yellow lane – staffed check-in, for example for motorhomes, car-and-trailer combinations, or if you arrive without a booking (tickets can be bought subject to availability).
• Check-in process: In the blue self-service lane a camera system reads your number plate, or you enter your booking number at the machine; you then receive your boarding pass. At the yellow lane counter you present your booking confirmation (or buy a ticket) and staff print your boarding passes. You then follow the staff's instructions into the waiting area and board once your row is called forward.

By bike

Cyclists check in like foot passengers. In Rostock you should be at the terminal about 30 minutes before departure (the shuttle bus to the ship runs around 20 minutes before departure); in Gedser 15 minutes is enough. In addition to the passenger ticket there is a small bicycle fee (small fee). Check-in takes place at the passenger terminal; the crew will then direct you – bikes are usually loaded onto the ferry via the vehicle ramp.

On foot (foot passengers)

Passengers without a vehicle use the passenger terminal:

• Check-in time: Rostock: check in up to 30 min before departure (the terminal shuttle bus runs to the ship about 20 min before departure); Gedser: check in up to 15 min before departure (access on foot via the gangway).
• Boarding: At the terminal you present your booking confirmation or ticket at the counter (tickets can also be bought on site) and receive a boarding pass. In Rostock a free shuttle bus then takes you from the terminal to the ship. In Gedser you board on foot from the terminal via a passenger bridge (or a shuttle is available if needed).

Coaches and groups

Coach travellers use dedicated check-in lanes; the driver handles the process for everyone on board. Groups without a vehicle should check in together and early - larger groups are best announced in advance so that everything runs smoothly.
